Department Brief

The Humanities Department embarks on a curriculum to develop in students an inquisitive mind through the inquiry-based pedagogy and to make learning more real by providing authentic learning experiences. Throughout their four to five years of education in our school we aim to instill in students the need to care for the Earth, an appreciation of the past, culture and heritage and to develop a love for Singapore.

4 Sec 3 Coastal Studies and Environment Awareness Trip to Tanjung Sedili, Johore Coastal Geographical Investigation Trip for Sec 3 Pure Geography students
5 Sec 4E/5NA One Day Humanities Trip to Johore, Malaysia. A cultural-awareness trip for the graduating students organised as part of the Multi-level Activities
6 Sec 3 Geography Field Studies at Changi Beach, Pasir Ris Beach and East Coast Park. Organised as part of the Geographical Investigation Field Studies.
7 Venturing Forth- English/Humanities/Aesthetic Trip to ASEAN countries Combined Trip organised under the Humanities/English and Aesthetics Depts during the June holidays for Sec 3 students.
8 Social Studies Workshop for Graduating students Organised in Term 3 in preparation for their ‘O’ level Exams
9 Interschool History Competition Selected students from Sec 2 & 3 participate in this annual competition organised for secondary school students.
10 Historical Investigation Learning Journey to Museums and Fort Canning Park Organised as part of the Lower Secondary Historical Investigation Task.
