The 53rd Boys’ Brigade Company strongly believes in servanthood leadership and our core values include obedience, reverence, discipline and self-respect. Our BB Boys are nurtured to be faithful in what is entrusted to them and to be committed to the organisation. We train with utmost excellence and take pride in what we do.

For 2018 to 2019, our company has once again attained the James Milner Fraser Gold Honour Roll, which is awarded to the top BB Companies in Singapore. We have also attained the Gold Honour Roll for BB Blaze Adventure Race 2019, where our Boys had to run over 21 kilometres, kayak, rock climb, abseil and even complete an obstacle course. We are proud to announce that we have a BB Boy who managed to receive the Founder’s Award, which is the pinnacle of awards achievable at the Secondary School level.

Our BB camps are specially tailored to suit the needs of our BB Boys. Our Recruit and Company Training Camps, including our Leadership Training and Development Camps focus on building heightened levels of tenacity and teamwork. They provide opportunities for the holistic development of our BB Boys as we observe them engaging in active collaboration and progress to become more confident individuals.

To further help them in this holistic development, we send our BB Boys for proper certification in Sports Climbing, Kayaking and Lifesaving. Moreover, we conduct intentional mentoring programmes for selected BB Boys to stretch them even further.

Service to the community is another important component of our BB programme. This year as part of our BB CARES (Community Activities Rallying Everyone to Serve) programme, our BB Boys served the community at the LitteRally event organised by the Singapore Environment Council and they were featured on prime time news. Moreover, the BB Share-a-Gift project that takes place annually towards the end of the year aims to teach our Boys empathy and care for the less fortunate.

Finally, to help the BB Boys face the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world, we seek to engage our important stakeholders – parents/guardians too. We host these purposeful engagements during our camps and conferences, partnering with the BBSS Parents Support Group (PSG) and Make The Change social enterprise. We are also exploring programming and coding in our BB curriculum as we strive to stay current with the trends in the education scene.
